A Tale Of Two Halves: OSU Vs Minnesota

The Ohio State Buckeyes had another Jekyll and Hyde game against a floundering Minnesota team.  The loss to Purdue was still fresh in the minds of the Buckeyes as they took the field on a gloomy day in Columbus. The results however were anything but that same as last weeks. Pryor and the Buckeye offense struggled in the first half scoring 7 points. The second half was a completely different story as Pryor lead four straight scoring drives making it 35 to nothing late in the third quarter. The Buckeye defense was hoping for a third shutout on the season but a late Minnesota drive in the fourth ended their hopes.  The Bucks defense however did hold Minnesota to only 286 total yards on the day and forced 3 turnovers.
Pryor ended the day with 239 yards passing with 2 Td’s an Interception and 15 rushes for 104 yards and another Td. Many of the OSU faithful hope this is will be a turning point in the Buckeyes season. If they continue to play like they did in the second half they may be right.
DeVier Posey made up for his comments earlier in the week catching two of Pryor’s touchdown passes and added 161 yards. The offensive outpouring in the second half, lead to 508 total yards including 269 on the ground and 239 through the air for the Buckeyes. Jermil Martin was the second leading rusher behind Pryor, and had a 7 carries for 74 yards including a 39-yard touchdown.
Ohio State (5-2) faces New Mexico State (3-4) next week in the Shoe at noon. This should be another warm up game for what will be a very difficult November for the Buckeyes. Minnesota( 4-4) gets a feisty Michigan State team at home.
